LSU head coach Lane Kiffin speaks ahead of matchup against Louisiana Tech

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The LSU Tigers defeated the Clemson Tigers inside Tiger Stadium by a score of 51-10 on Saturday, Sept. 5. LSU head football coach Lane Kiffin spoke to the media following the Tigers' blowout win over Clemson in Death Valley. The Tigers were led by quarterback Sam Leavitt, who accounted for 343 total yards and three touchdowns against Clemson. LSU ran for 309 total yards and totaled 335 yards through the air on Saturday night. Kiffin said, 'It was really an amazing day.' The first-year head coach was asked about the performance of the defense against Clemson. Kiffin said he was 'very pleased, I mean, we missed a couple tackles, but to go that late in a game and the backups are in, and that's the first time they cross the 50 is really amazing.' Coach Kiffin talked about running back Dilin Jones and his performance in the first game of the season. He said, 'Dilin did a great job, but again, that's how he had performed in camp with us.' The LSU head coach was asked about what Nick Saban called 'rat poison.' Kiffin said, 'that's a real thing, and it happens more now than it used to because of their phones.' The Tigers are set to host Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in Baton Rouge on Saturday, Sept. 12, in a battle of undefeated teams.
