Thousands of passengers are facing delays and groundings as flights departing from all over the UK have been disrupted due to a technical issue affecting air traffic control services. The issue is impacting flight departures from multiple airports, including Heathrow, Manchester and Edinburgh. NATS (National Air Traffic Services), the UK's air traffic control provider, confirmed the problem and is currently working to resolve it. In an update to passengers, NATS said, "We are investigating a technical issue which is causing some disruption to flight departures." Full list of UK airports affected by traffic control delays Here is a full list of all the airports facing delays and groundings: London Heathrow London Gatwick Stansted Airport Manchester Airport Birmingham Airport Belfast City Airport Edinburgh Airport Aberdeen Airport Glasgow Airport Southampton Airport East Midlands Airport Jersey Airport Around 200 flights were cancelled on Tuesday afternoon because of the air traffic control issue, with that number expected to rise, flight monitoring website Flightradar24 said. Heathrow Airport confirmed the disruption in a statement, emphasising that only departing flights are affected. A Heathrow spokesperson said: 'The air traffic control service Nats is experiencing a technical issue which is impacting departing flights at UK airports. 'Arriving flights are not currently impacted. 'We are supporting our local Nats team in their efforts to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. 'We will provide updated information when we have it.' Passengers have been advised to check with their airlines for the latest information before travelling to the airport. Heathrow apologised to affected customers and said it is supporting Nats in resolving the issue. Passengers have been advised to check the latest flight information with their airlines.
