Luxembourg's broadcaster RTL has confirmed that it will not broadcast the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 due to scheduling conflicts. Speaking to ESCSpot, a spokesperson for the Luxembourgish delegation explained: 'I would like to inform you that RTL will not broadcast JESC this year because the date of the competition does not fit our program.' The broadcaster therefore will not air Junior Eurovision 2026, which is set to take place on 24 October in Malta. RTL has however, left the door open to a return in 2027. According to the broadcaster, the possibility of airing the contest again will depend on the date chosen for next year's event and whether it can be accommodated within the schedule. The decision comes after Luxembourg broadcast Junior Eurovision in both 2024 and 2025 on RTL Zwee. The country did not participate in the contest, but continued to air the event for viewers. Commentators for the broadcasts included Raoul Roos and Eric Lehmann in 2024, while Laura Thorn joined Roos in the commentary booth for the 2025 edition. Junior Eurovision 2026 Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will take place on October 24 in the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre in Ta' Qali. This will be the third time that Malta will host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, having done so previously in 2014 and 2016.
