Crime Manatee deputies target Labor Day weekend DUI drivers. How many were arrested? A joint Manatee County Sheriff's Office and Florida Highway Patrol DUI saturation patrol resulted in six arrests for impaired driving Friday, according to the sheriff's office. The sheriff's office Traffic Unit and FHP conducted the patrol ahead of Labor Day weekend as part of ongoing efforts to combat drunk and dangerous driving on local roads. Deputies and troopers arrested six drivers on DUI charges and two others for street racing during the operation, according to a news release. The patrol targeted heavy traffic times and locations for impaired and dangerous driving, the sheriff's office said. The sheriff's office regularly conducts DUI saturation patrols throughout Manatee County. During the agency's previous saturation patrol in August, deputies arrested four drivers on DUI charges and tested three additional people. Deputies also made two misdemeanor arrests, issued one criminal traffic summons, 56 civil traffic citations and 23 warnings.
