Southland Gas Prices at Record Highs for Labor Day

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose for the 20th consecutive day Monday, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $5.906, its highest amount ever on Labor Day. The previous Labor Day record was $5.397 in 2023. The average price is the highest it's been since June 8, and is 16 cents more than one week ago, 23.5 cents more than one month ago and $1.244 more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has increased $1.212 since the start of the joint U.S./Israel war on Iran on Feb. 28, which sent oil prices higher and drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump. The Orange County average price also rose for the 20th consecutive day, increasing eight-tenths of a cent to $5.882, its highest amount on Labor Day, breaking the old record of $5.356 set in 2023. The Orange County average price is the highest it's been since June 4, and is 16.3 cents more than one week ago, 26.8 cents more than one month ago and $1.245 more than one year ago. It has increased $1.246 since the start of the war on Iran. The national average price increased three-tenths of a cent to $4.15, its highest ever on Labor Day, breaking the old record of $3.82 set in 2012. It is 7 cents more than one week ago, 10.8 cents more than one month ago and 95.3 cents more than one year ago. It has increased $1.168 since the attack on Iran.
