Focus On Door-to-door Sanitation Mechanism: DG Suthra Punjab

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Sep, 2026) Director General Suthra Punjab Umar Javed stated on Thursday that significant attention is being paid to an effective door-to-door sanitation mechanism across the province, with officials working continuously to address this challenge. In a statement issued here,the DG noted that approximately 4,000 complaints were received daily, with efforts made to resolve them within 24 hours. He mentioned that around 7,000 to 10,000 tons of waste were dumped daily in Lahore , while approximately 45,000 to 50,000 tons were collected across Punjab each day. Umar Javed stated that issues regarding the salaries of sanitation workers in Multan, Rojhan, and Chaubara tehsils have been resolved. Sanitation contracts in certain tehsils have been cancelled and new ones awarded; workers were paid on time, although delays may occur if legal issues arise. He remarked that achieving "zero waste" was an ongoing process that can never be fully concluded, yet sanitation operations continue on a daily basis.
