KP minister welcomes dismissal of contempt petitions by ATC

Peshawar - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Law, Human Rights and Parliamentary Affairs Aftab Alam has welcomed the dismissal of contempt of court petitions by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), Peshawar, in the Radio Pakistan attack case, describing the development as an important step towards justice, truth and the supremacy of law. In a statement, Aftab Alam said that the Anti-Terrorism Court had dismissed a contempt petition filed against Special Prosecutor/Additional Advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Noman-ul-Haq Kakakhel in the Radio Pakistan case. Election awareness session held for persons with disabilities The minister said he had remained steadfast in his legal position and constitutional responsibilities throughout the proceedings and had defended his stance before the court strictly in accordance with the law. Aftab Alam said Supreme Court advocate Noman-ul-Haq Kakakhel had stood for law and justice against alleged attempts to implicate Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other party leaders in the May 9 cases. He said the purpose of their legal struggle was not to place any individual or group above the law, but to ensure that proceedings were conducted in accordance with evidence, the law and the requirements of justice. 'Truth cannot be defeated by temporary pressure or political allegations. Ultimately, it is the law and justice that prevail,' Aftab Alam said. He termed the court's decision not merely progress in an individual legal matter, but also a reflection of the importance of truth, justice and principled positions.
