Independence Day Sports Festival concludes successfully in Hyderabad

Karachi The Independence Day Sports Festival was organized by the Sports & Youth Affairs Department Government of Sindh from August 14 to 16, 2026 in Hyderabad. The festival included competitions in Sepaktakraw along with other selected sports. Ms. Maryam Keerio DSO Hyderabad and Noushad Ahmed Khan, General Secretary, Pakistan Sepaktakraw Federation attended the Sepaktakraw event and distributed trophies, certificates, and prizes to the players. Addressing the gathering, Ms. Maryam Keerio said, 'We recently participated in the World Cup Sepaktakraw Championship held in Thailand. It is a matter of great pride that some of the players who participated in today's event also represented Pakistan in the Thai King's Cup World Championship.' Noushad Ahmed Khan, in his speech stated that according to the report submitted by Dr. Arif Hafeez Manager of the National Team, Pakistani players delivered an impressive performance in the Thai King's Cup. 'Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka and gave tough competition to strong teams including Thailand, China, Laos, and Malaysia,' he said. He further expressed hope that in the upcoming championships, Pakistani players will perform even better and secure medals for the country. The festival was aimed at promoting sports culture and providing young athletes with opportunities to showcase their talent during the Independence Day celebrations.
