The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGI&P) has extended working hours at eight regional passport offices across Pakistan to facilitate citizens and improve access to passport services.
On the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the passport offices in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad and Quetta are now operating in two shifts from 8 am to midnight. The extended schedule took effect on August 20, 2026.
Under the new arrangement, the first shift will run from 8 am to 4 pm, while the second shift will operate from 4 pm to 12 am, Monday through Friday.
The move is aimed at giving citizens greater flexibility to obtain passport-related services outside conventional office hours, while also helping reduce queues and waiting times at busy regional offices.
The decision was reviewed during a meeting chaired by DGI&P Director General Muhammad Ali Randhawa, where officials discussed service delivery, public facilitation and policy matters concerning regional passport offices.
Randhawa said providing efficient, accessible and citizen-friendly passport services remains the department's top priority.
The DGI&P already offers Fast Track Passport Service in 47 cities, including Rawalpindi, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Hyderabad.
The department's official website also lists regional passport offices across the country, including the eight cities covered by the latest extended-hours initiative.
The extended hours are expected to particularly benefit people who cannot visit passport offices during regular daytime working hours and could help distribute public traffic more evenly across shifts.
