Beulah 'Bea' I. (Mabry) Woods
Born June 29, 1938 in Hyattsville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ernest M. and Blanche V. (Midkiff) Mabry.
Bea grew up in Beltsville, MD, later moved to Laurel, MD, then settled in Waynesboro, PA after her 2005 retirement.
She was a 1956 graduate of High Point High School in Beltsville, MD. Bea was quite the athlete. After decades of playing softball, she spent several years coaching and umpiring.
Bea had a delightful (and sometimes devilish) sense of humor. She made friends easily and loved making people laugh. She eagerly participated in games at Providence Place and was especially passionate about Bingo. She enjoyed welcoming new residents and engaged in playful banter with staff members, many of whom she loved like family. Bea made it her mission to keep her wheelchair decorated on a seasonal basis, which brought smiles to many as she buzzed through the halls.
A lifelong animal-lover, Bea thoroughly enjoyed petting and cuddling the many pets who visited or lived at Providence Place.
In addition to her wife, Tonda L. Brown, Bea is survived by her daughter, Constance I. 'Connie' Warrenfeltz and her husband (Emmert), of Waynesboro, PA, as well as an extended host of friends made while living at Providence Place, Chambersburg.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Private burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268, or Forever Love Rescue, 39 Queen Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
