Over 220 Advanced Cancer Patients Benefit from Oncordance Programme - National Cancer Centre Singapore

National Cancer Centre Singapore shared on LinkedIn: 'What do you want from surgery – your goals, priorities, and hopes?' It's a simple question. But for cancer patients facing life-altering decisions, it can make all the difference. When Mr Gerald William Pereira, 63, was diagnosed with an aggressive groin cancer, he faced an agonising choice: risk losing his left leg through surgery, or forgo it and have only six months to a year to live. Conversations with his surgeon and care team from the Division of Surgery and Surgical Oncology, NCCS and SGH, helped him reflect on what mattered most and make a decision he could stand behind. This is what the Oncordance programme makes possible. Launched by NCCS and Lien Foundation in August 2025, the programme integrates general palliative care into surgical care so that treatment decisions reflect what matters most to each patient. To date, over 220 advanced cancer patients have benefited -with the goal of reaching 1,000 over two years.
