The Pittsburgh Steelers, who saw multiple starters go down with injuries over the past month, received some amazing news ahead of the Week 1 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
According to Penn Live's Nick Farabaugh, several Steelers who were previously injured practiced on Monday: safety Jaquan Brisker (undisclosed), defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day (oblique), wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (right leg), wide receiver DK Metcalf (undisclosed), fullback Riley Nowakowski (ankle), cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (back), wide receiver Ben Skowronek (concussion), and quarterback Will Howard (concussion).
Of these players, Pittman and Metcalf are arguably the most welcome returns, as the two receivers went down around the same time and didn't participate in any preseason action. Pittsburgh went to great lengths to improve its receiver corps this offseason, and Pittman and Metcalf's absence, albeit short-term, was concerning.
Additionally, Porter, who dealt with a back injury during training camp, was expected to begin ramping up in practice. With Porter's contract hanging over the team, there was talk about a potential holdout as well. But it appears he's trending toward being available in Week 1.
