Beloit man facing fourth OWI charge

BELOIT - A 27-year-old Beloit man is facing his fourth operating while intoxicated (OWI) charge, which would make it a felony punishable by up to six years in prison. Daniel Ronan also was charged with failure to install an ignition interlock device, which is a misdemeanor. According to a criminal complaint, on Aug. 22 at around 3 a.m., Town of Beloit police spotted a car at East Bayliss and South Porter avenues , but the driver had not turned on the vehicle's headlights. Police pulled the car over a few blocks away and allegedly found it was being driven by Daniel Ronan, who had been found guilty of OWI charges in 2017 and twice in 2019 and by law was supposed to have an ignition interlock device installed in his vehicle. Ronan allegedly failed field sobriety tests at the scene and a breathalyzer test at the Town of Beloit Police Department. Ronan is scheduled to make his initial appearances in Rock County Circuit Court on the charges on Sept. 22.
