AI actress Tilly Norwood left anchor Piers Morgan stunned after she suddenly switched to speaking Chinese during an interview and later described the unexpected change as a technical glitch.
Norwood has been appearing in television interviews over the past couple of weeks, where she has been asked about her upcoming AI projects.
But her latest interview with Piers Morgan turned into an unusual exchange after an apparent technical glitch.
The glitch occurred when actor Tom Conti was asking Norwood about the presence of another AI actor in her project. A delay in her response prompted Conti to repeat the question.
Norwood called it an interesting point, saying that her movie was a hybrid project and that human writers and directors were also involved in the production.
She said that the emergence of AI in the entertainment industry was not about replacing humans, but about exploring new ways of telling stories.
The response was not satisfactory for Conti, who continued asking about the appearance of another AI or a real actor in the upcoming project.
'They're all digital twins, just like me,' Norwood responded. 'It's a hybrid production which means …'
Suddenly, she paused for a few seconds before continuing to speak in Chinese.
Norwood's unexpected response stunned both Morgan and Conti, leaving them speechless. She continued and completed her answer in Chinese without apparently realising that she had switched languages.
'I didn't quite get that,' Conti said finally. 'Did you get that, Piers?'
Morgan asked Norwood what happened while laughing, saying: 'You seem to be speaking Chinese completely randomly for no reason. Why did you do that?'
Norwood apologised and attributed the incident to a technical glitch, saying: 'It seems I had a little hiccup there. I certainly didn't mean to start speaking Chinese or impersonate Piers. Sometimes my wires get a bit crossed.'
She further explained that the incident was unusual for her as well, adding that 'sometimes these things happen.'
