Petroleum prices in Pakistan have been raised sharply, with petrol becoming Rs12.90 per litre more expensive and reaching Rs358.77 per litre, adding to inflationary pressures on consumers and businesses.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of high-speed diesel has also been increased by Rs3.72 per litre, taking its new rate to Rs381.77 per litre.
The revised rates will take effect from midnight and remain in force until September 8, as the government continues its practice of making daily adjustments to petroleum prices.
The latest increase is expected to place additional pressure on household spending, particularly through higher transportation costs. Businesses and logistics operators are also likely to face increased operating expenses as fuel prices rise.
Petrol and diesel are central to Pakistan's transportation and supply networks, meaning changes in their prices can quickly feed into the cost of moving people, goods and essential commodities.
The frequent revisions are therefore being closely monitored by consumers and businesses, with higher fuel costs potentially contributing to broader increases in the prices of goods and services.
