Flutterwave, Moniepoint, Andela leveraging Tinubu's reforms for global expansion — Shettima …Says Nigerian firms benefiting from economic reforms …Fed govt pledges support as Flutterwave targets massive global growth Nigerian technology companies, including Flutterwave, Moniepoint and Andela, are leveraging the gains of the Tinubu administration's economic reforms to scale their operations and expand their footprints internationally, Vice President Kashim Shettima said on Monday. Shettima said the emergence of indigenous companies as increasingly competitive international brands demonstrated the capacity of Nigerian enterprises to develop home-grown solutions to local and continental challenges while competing on the global stage. The Vice President spoke in Abuja when he received a delegation from Flutterwave, led by its Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Olugbenga Agboola, on a courtesy visit. He said reforms instituted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu across various sectors were supporting the transformation of indigenous businesses into global brands, assuring them of the Federal Government's backing within and outside Nigeria. In a statement issued by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima said 'we have to support and promote our own. We have to make our companies stronger'. He particularly applauded Flutterwave, an indigenous fintech company providing payment infrastructure for global merchants and payment service providers, for building what he described as one of Africa's most compelling technology success stories from Nigeria. According to the Vice President, the company's growth reflected the benefits of committed leadership and expertise, as well as the ability of Nigerian entrepreneurs to create solutions capable of addressing challenges peculiar to the continent. Shettima said one of the most significant aspects of Flutterwave's success was its 'ability to solve an African problem using an indigenous solution that addresses challenges related to digital payment for products and services, among others.' He said the administration would continue to support and promote Nigerian companies as they expand their operations and compete internationally, stressing that strengthening indigenous enterprises remained important to the country's economic growth. Earlier, Agboola said Flutterwave was targeting massive growth over the next few years as it seeks to consolidate its position as a major player in payments and banking across Africa and globally. He thanked President Tinubu, Shettima and the Federal Government for the confidence reposed in the company, describing it as 'a strategic signal of how Nigeria is supporting Nigeria' and an important milestone for Flutterwave. Agboola said the company was also prepared to deepen its partnership with the Federal Government and contribute to the administration's economic agenda. 'Your Excellency, it's my honour to be here today. Like I said, our goal is to partner with you and your team to reason how we can do more to advance the administration's amazing economic agenda that we have seen working right now in the country. We want to be a part of that positive story. 'We are very much a Nigerian company. I'm very much Nigerian. Nigeria is our home. And everybody here, as you can see, they're all Nigerians. Our goal is to ensure that we do our best to help move Nigeria forward,' he said. Also present at the meeting were the Chief Executive Officer of Stanel Group, Stanley Uzochukwu, and other senior management officials of Flutterwave.
