Shafi Jan formally assumes additional portfolio of Science Technology and Information Technology department

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information and Public Relations Minister Shafi Jan on Monday formally assumed additional charge of the Science, Technology and Information Technology Department, vowing to expand digital governance and the use of modern technology across the province. Secretary Science and Information Technology Abdul Basit Khan was also present on the occasion. Speaking after assuming charge, Mr Jan thanked Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for entrusting him with the additional portfolio and expressing confidence in him.
He said public service was the provincial government's foremost priority under the leadership of the chief minister.
The minister said that, in line with the vision of founding chairman Imran Khan, the government would further promote digital governance and expand the use of modern technology in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said effective use of technology would help ensure greater transparency, efficiency and public convenience in the government system. All available resources would be utilised to take the province forward in the fields of digital governance and modern technology, he added.
Mr Jan said providing young people with modern technology skills, digital skills and new employment opportunities was among the government's key priorities.
He added that the use of technology in the delivery of public services would be expanded to bring government institutions in line with modern requirements.
The minister expressed his resolve to take effective measures to make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a hub of digital transformation, improve the delivery of public services and ensure that the benefits of modern technology reached the people.
