Chandigarh:
Haryana
environment, forest and wildlife minister Rao Narbir Singh has directed officials to release all pending maintenance dues of van mitras for the financial years 2025-26 and 2026-27 by Sept 15.
Chairing a review meeting with senior department officers, the minister ordered district forest officers, who also function as drawing and disbursing officers, to ensure timely payments, warning them against arbitrary functioning.
Rao Narbir Singh said van mitras play a crucial role in connecting the forest department with the public during plantation drives. He directed officials to allow van mitras to carry out plantation work not only on private land but also on land belonging to the forest department, saying this would help expand state's green cover and advance the goal of a 'Green Haryana.'
