Pat Murphy talks pitching mounds, Miz, and Harrison woes

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers are inching closer and closer to the post-season. With the team's thrilling win over the Chicago Cubs on Monday, the magic number to clinch a playoff berth is at six. Jacob Misiorowski will be on the mound Tuesday at American Family Field where he'll likley be more comfortable than on the road where the mounds may not be as good. While joining Brewers 360 on WTMJ's Wis. Morning News, Manager Pat Murphy was asked if he thinks opposing teams will 'doctor' the mounds to make it more difficult for the Brewers ace. 'I hope not,' Murphy said. 'I think the integrity of the game is better than that. It's about Miz getting something extra (from his pitches). He's so tall. I think it's about his delivery and keeping his delivery in tact. If any mound is slippery, then we'll get it fixed.' Murphy also downplayed any idea that pitchers are more comfortable pitching at home. 'The great ones won't have much disparity home or away.' The Brewers are hoping Kyle Harrison can rebound from a couple of bad outings. Murphy expects him to improve. 'Confidence is a huge thing,' he explained. 'Controlling it, losing it.
