TYT Wan Junaidi, Toh Puan express sorrow over five killed in Long Lellang helicopter crash

Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Threads WhatsApp Telegram KUCHING (Sept 8): The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi have expressed their deepest sorrow over the deaths of five people in the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash at Long Lellang, Baram, today. In a statement from Astana Negeri, they conveyed their deepest condolences and sympathy to the families and loved ones of the five victims — pilot Captain Zainol, Dr Ainul Baroah Kamaruddin, Assistant Medical Officer Alexson Adit, Staff Nurse Debra Moset and Staff Nurse Jessie Paya. They said the loss was particularly felt as four of the victims were healthcare workers carrying out their duties to deliver medical services to communities in the interior of Sarawak. 'Their service through the Flying Doctor Service was immensely valuable to the people of Sarawak, particularly those in remote areas who depend on the service for access to medical treatment and healthcare,' the statement read. They said the victims' sacrifice and service would always be remembered, noting that they died while carrying out their responsibilities and duties to provide assistance and services to communities in need. In expressing their condolences, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah prayed that the victims' families would be granted strength, fortitude and patience in facing the loss of their loved ones. They also expressed their appreciation to all security personnel, Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) teams, healthcare workers, authorities and members of the local community involved in the operations at the crash site. For the Muslim victims, they prayed that Allah SWT would shower His mercy upon their souls and place them among the faithful and righteous, while praying that the souls of the non-Muslim victims would rest in peace. 'Condolences to all the victims' families. Sarawak also mourns the loss of five individuals who dedicated their service and contributions to the community,' the statement said.
