After suffering a groin injury midway through training camp, New York Jets running back Breece Hall is on track to return to the field just in time for this week's season opener. Per ESPN's Rich Cimini, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announced that Hall will return to practice on Tuesday and is "trending" toward playing in Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Hall missed New York's final two preseason games after an MRI revealed that he suffered a strained groin last month. He suffered the injury while running after making a catch in practice, going down without being touched. Despite the initial scare, there was always an expectation that he would be ready for the start of the regular season. "It's definitely a relief," Jets quarterback Geno Smith said at the time of the news. "We need Breece and [we're] praying for a speedy recovery from him. He's a big part of our offense and our team. He's a leader on our team and on our offense, and so his presence is felt when he's out there. So, we appreciate him and just hoping he comes back as soon as possible." The Jets signed Hall to a three-year, $43.5 million contract this offseason, positioning him as the lead back in their offense. Backup running back Braelon Allen showed promise in his absence, but he's coming off knee surgery that limited him to four games in 2025. Fellow backup Isaiah Davis also underwent knee surgery earlier this offseason, though he's projected to return early in the 2026 campaign. Getting Hall back in the lineup will be one of the keys for the Jets as they go up against the Titans and former head coach Robert Saleh. The team is hoping to see more success in Glenn's second year at the helm, and it will be important to keep everyone healthy as New York tries to turn the corner in its lengthy rebuild.
