Mardi Gras Port Arthur is looking for krewes to participate in its inaugural celebration.
The Port Arthur Convention and Visitors Bureau is organizing Mardi Gras Port Arthur in partnership with the city. The event is scheduled for Feb. 5-7, 2027, in downtown Port Arthur. Organizers are seeking krewes to ride in Friday, Saturday and Sunday parades.
'Krewes are what make Mardi Gras fun,' the release said. 'These groups of friends and co-workers form bonds as they attend activities, toss beads from floats and often raise funds for their various charitable causes. Krewe fun extends to community fun.'
Mardi Gras Port Arthur has a limited number of rental floats available on a first-come, first-served basis. Organizers are inviting work, church, friend and social groups to form krewes for the inaugural festival. Krewes must follow all rules and guidelines set by the city of Port Arthur and Mardi Gras Port Arthur.

Krewes must provide a non-drinking driver and tow vehicle, a generator to power the float's lights, beads and other approved throws, and non-drinking float guards who will wear safety vests and walk alongside the float to help protect spectators. Organizers said the event will be family-friendly.
'Mardi Gras Port Arthur is committed to creating a celebration where families, friends and visitors of all ages come together to enjoy the music, culture and traditions of Mardi Gras in a safe, welcoming and family-friendly environment,' the release said. 'We believe the best celebrations create lasting memories for every generation.'
Krewes can register by filling out a registration form and emailing it to Krewe Committee Chair Stacy Hooker at stacy.b.hooker@gmail.com. Mardi Gras Port Arthur will provide updates on food and craft vendors, merchandise, entertainment and parades as the event approaches.
