Gary Glover

Gary Glover, 82, of Arbela, formerly of Keokuk, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026, at his home. He was born October 16, 1943, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Marion 'Frank' and Winifred 'Betty' Hammans Glover. Gary graduated from Clark County R-1 High School with the class of 1961. Following high school, he proudly joined the United States Navy and served his country until his honorable discharge on September 22, 1964. On October 5, 1974, he was united in marriage to LouAnn Beaty in Keokuk. She survives. Throughout his working years, Gary was employed at Shaffer Pen in Fort Madison and then Coffield Electric before he retired in 2005. Gary attended The Crossing in Keokuk. He was a devoted supporter of the Keokuk Chiefs and enjoyed cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, Iowa Hawkeyes and Indiana Fever. Gary enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially living the farm life. He loved tinkering with cars, attending car shows and watching old westerns. He also enjoyed playing cards and spending time visiting with family and friends. Most of all, Gary treasured his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and could always be found proudly attending their school events and cheering them on. He is survived by his wife, LouAnn Glover of Arbela; two sons, Jason Glover (Amy) of Arbela and Derrick Glover (Angie) of Keokuk; five grandchildren, Dayton Glover (Destiny), Tanner Glover (Heather), Ethan Glover (Angel), Gunnar Glover and Aalaiya Glover; and eleven great-grandchildren, Oliver, Evelynne, Halston, Wrynley, Rory, Hazel, Waylon, Bodie (expected), Riley, Jackson and Finn (expected). He is also survived by three nieces, Stephanie Nickel (Tom) of Keokuk, Deborah Campbell (Steve) of Keokuk and Rhonda Daniels (Terry) of Conroe, Texas; as well as special friends, David and Velma Kirchner, Nancy Goldsberry, Pati Toops, Denny Riffle, Mike and Susan Daggett, and Steve and Theresa Price. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dennis Allen Glover; and special friends, Rex Goldsberry and Howard Toops. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2026, at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, with Pastor A.J. Fuhrman officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Keokuk National Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 11 a.m., with the family meeting with friends at that time. Memorials may be made to the family.
