Michigan man accused of sex crimes against child

MCBAIN, MI – A Michigan man is facing multiple charges related to sexually assaulting a minor child along with other sex crimes, police said. Robert Lucas, 46, of McBain, was originally investigated in May for child sexually abusive material; he was charged with multiple crimes. Since then, authorities were notified that Lucas allegedly sexually assaulted a then-minor child several years ago; an investigation took place and additional charges were filed in August. Lucas was arraigned on Aug. 31 in the 84th District Court in Missaukee County. He is charged with six counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, and habitual offender second offense notice. These charges are in addition to those filed in May. On May 8, Lucas was arrested after an investigation into allegations that he was using social media to elicit sexual favors in exchange for money. An investigation by MSP found that there were multiple adult victims, and this behavior had been ongoing for several years. The MSP Computer Crimes Unit (CCU) examined Lucas' phone and found illicit and illegal sexual images and videos, some of which were identified as child sexually abusive material and bestiality. A search warrant for his residence was conducted and additional evidence was located. Lucas was arraigned on May 11 in the 84th District Court in Missaukee County on charges of child sexually abusive material, aggravated possession; child sexually abusive material, possession; child sexually abusive material, aggravated possession involving bestiality; two counts of using a computer to commit a crime; prostitution/accosting and soliciting; prostitution/pandering; and habitual offender second offense notice.
