Connah's Quay High clarifies uniform policy on black socks

In a letter to parents and carers, the school said its current Uniform and Equipment Policy requires learners to wear grey socks or black tights. However, historic information referring to dark or black socks had remained on the school's website and social media and had also appeared in some communications. The school acknowledged this may have caused some confusion and inconvenience for families. It said: 'Our current Uniform and Equipment Policy states that learners should wear grey socks or black tights as part of their school uniform. 'Unfortunately, some historic information referring to dark/black socks remained available and was also reflected incorrectly in some of our communications.' The website has now been updated, and from Monday, September 14, parents and carers are being asked to ensure pupils wear grey socks or black tights. Learners who need grey socks during the transition can visit Student Services, where the school will provide them. Some parents have expressed frustration online, questioning why the colour of socks and tights should be a priority. One parent argued that enforcing the rule could create unnecessary issues for pupils and potentially lead to sanctions taking them away from lessons, saying they would rather see the focus remain on education. The school thanked families for their understanding and cooperation in following its uniform expectations.
