Sunshine with warmer conditions on the way

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Labor Day, Utah! After a pleasant holiday, we're tracking drier conditions and warmer temperatures to wrap up the week. Today's outlook We're tracking a mix of clouds and sunshine across the state for our Monday afternoon. Daytime high temperatures will be below average in most locations. High temperatures will warm into the upper 70s across the Wasatch Front, with highs in the lower 90s across SW Utah. Warming up this week Tuesday will feature plenty of sunshine and more pleasant conditions. High temperatures will climb into the lower 80s across the Wasatch Front. Highs will warm into the mid 90s across SW Utah. Wednesday will feature more plentiful sunshine across the area. A ridge of high pressure will begin to retrograde back to the west for the second half of the week. This will allow for daytime highs to take a jump from mid to late week above average. Highs on Wednesday afternoon will warm into the mid 80s across the Wasatch Front and into the lower 100s for SW Utah. The warm-up continues for our Thursday afternoon. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 80s across the Wasatch Front and into the lower 100s across SW Utah. As high pressure slides west, a little moisture will begin to sneak into Utah. The moisture will mainly flow in the form of clouds for our Thursday and Friday. This will likely mean more of a mix of clouds and sun on both days. Weekend forecast Friday is currently looking like our hottest afternoon this week, with temps warming near 90° along the Wasatch Front. Daytime highs will warm into the lower 100s for SW Utah. A trough dives in from the northwest this weekend, which could bring a little moisture to northern Utah. Either way, this trough looks to bring some cooler conditions back to the region, especially by the second half of the weekend.
