Watertown hosts 9/11 memorial 25 years later

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – As the nation marks a quarter-century since the tragedies of September 11, 2001, Spoken Word of NNY and the Watertown Lyric Theater are presenting a commemorative local event: 'The North Country Remembers 9/11: 25 Years Later.' The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a locally produced documentary highlighting North Country residents sharing personal reflections of that day. At 7 p.m., the program transitions to a stage performance of WTC View, written by Brian Sloan. The play follows downtown Manhattan photographer Eric as he interviews prospective roommates in the wake of the attacks, including Alex, a survivor who was inside one of the World Trade Center towers. Audiences attending the Thursday and Saturday performances are invited to remain for an exclusive post-show talkback with Sloan at 8:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $10, available at the door or online. Funded by the Statewide Community Regrants Program through the New York State Council on the Arts and administered by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council, the project offers a profound space for community remembrance.
