Nebraska freshman running back Jamal Rule named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska Athletics announced on Monday that Nebraska freshman running back Jamal Rule was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his performance on Saturday against Ohio. According to Nebraska Athletics, Rule rushed with 122 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries while also catching two passes for 47 yards and a touchdown in Nebraska's 49-21 win. Rule's 122 yards rushing marked the seventh-highest total by a Big Ten freshman in a season opener since 1995. Nebraska Athletics said his 169 yards from scrimmage marked just the fifth time in the last 30 years that a freshman had 160 or more yards from scrimmage in a season opener. Rule is the first Husker freshman to earn the conference weekly honor since TJ Lateef did last season against UCLA. The Huskers host Bowling Green on Saturday, with kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on FS1 and the Huskers Radio Network.
