The PML-N and PPP have finalised their candidates for eight reserved seats in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, with the nomination process set to begin on August 20.
Of the five reserved seats for women, the PML-N and PPP are likely to secure three seats, according to the proposed allocation.
The PML-N has finalized Maryam Kashmiri, Sehrish Qamar and Maryam Idrees as its candidates for the women's reserved seats.
The PPP has nominated Zubia Khurshid Raja and Farzana Yaqoob for the remaining women's seats.
PML-N candidates for other reserved seats
The PML-N has also finalized candidates for three other reserved categories in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Barrister Iftikhar Gilani has been nominated for the technocrat seat, while Abdul Rehman Arain will contest the overseas seat.
For the Ulema Mashaikh reserved seat, the PML-N has nominated Pir Mazhar Saeed.
Nawaz Sharif approves PML-N nominations
PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has approved the party's nominations for the reserved seats in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
The party said the nominations were made on the recommendations of its Parliamentary Board, following which Nawaz Sharif issued the official party tickets bearing his signature.
Candidates for the reserved seats will submit their nomination papers on August 20.
Polling for the reserved seats is scheduled to take place on August 24, completing another stage of the process for the formation of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
