Shares of Gossamer Bio climbed sharply in early trading on Monday, extending a recent run of gains as investors position ahead of the company's presentation at the Cantor Global Healthcare Conference in New York. The stock was up 7.1% to €0.1580 in the primary report, though another account put the advance at 8.1% with the equity changing hands at €0.1595. Either way, the move lifts the California-based biotech's market capitalization to roughly €73.75 million.
The conference appearance, scheduled for September 9–11, comes at a pivotal juncture for the company's lead asset. Management had targeted this past Tuesday for the submission of a New Drug Application (NDA) to the US Food and Drug Administration for Seralutinib, a candidate therapy for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). That filing follows a pre-NDA Type B meeting with the regulator, the protocols of which were finalized in late July and have shaped the company's path forward. Should the FDA accept the application for review, a marketing decision could arrive as early as the third quarter of 2027.
Regaining Full Control of a Key Asset
The regulatory push comes on the heels of a significant strategic shift. Late last month, Gossamer Bio terminated its collaboration with Chiesi and reacquired worldwide development and commercialization rights to Seralutinib. As part of the termination agreement, Chiesi made a one-time payment of $5 million to Gossamer. The company now holds complete control over the clinical and commercial trajectory of its most valuable pipeline candidate, which is also being explored in PH-ILD (pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease).
Management is scheduled to present its strategy and pipeline updates to investors on Wednesday, September 9, with direct meetings with institutional investors also planned on the sidelines of the conference.

Funding the Path to Approval
The company's financial runway has been reinforced through a structured private placement agreed roughly two weeks ago, with gross proceeds of up to $250 million. Of that total, $150 million is firmly committed, with an initial tranche of approximately $25 million slated for closing around August 24. An additional $125 million is contingent on the FDA formally accepting the Seralutinib application later this year. Further capital could flow from warrants tied to a final approval.
Beyond the new financing, management has moved to lighten the balance sheet. Mid-July saw shareholders approve an exchange of convertible notes, reducing outstanding debt by approximately $115.9 million. The company exited the second quarter with roughly $57 million in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities.
A Sharper Financial Picture
The debt restructuring drove a dramatic swing in quarterly results. Gossamer Bio reported a net income of $16.9 million for the second quarter of 2026, a stark reversal from the net loss of $38.3 million recorded in the same period a year earlier. Research and development expenses fell to $26.4 million from $41.6 million year-over-year, a decline the company attributed to lower clinical trial costs for Seralutinib as preparations shift into the final administrative phase of the NDA process.
Shareholders have also authorized a potential reverse stock split in the range of 1:10 to 1:15, a move designed to ensure the company maintains compliance with Nasdaq's minimum bid price requirement. The authorization gives management flexibility to address listing standards without altering the underlying fundamentals of the business.
With the rights situation clarified, financing in place for the final stretch of the regulatory process, and the NDA submission imminent, the market's recent enthusiasm reflects a bet on execution rather than speculation. The FDA's acceptance of the application will be the next critical catalyst — and the key to unlocking the remaining capital tranches.
