EDINBURG, Texas – In remembrance of the sacrifices made by first responders in New York City on September 11, 2001, the City of Edinburg will host a free Honorary Walk on Friday, September 11, 2026.
The walk will begin with a special remembrance ceremony at Fire Station 1, located at 212 W. McIntyre Street, at 8:45 a.m. The event will feature the ringing of the bells, the wailing of sirens, and TAPS in tribute to the victims. Following the ceremony, the walk will kick off at 9:11 a.m., covering a 911-meter route around City Hall and back to Fire Station 1.
Members of the media and the community are encouraged to attend the honorary walk to pay their respects to those affected by the tragedy. For more information, please call (956) 381-5631.
