Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have raided the residence of the Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Edo State, Kennedy Odion, and carted away cash, two vehicles and other valuables.
The gunmen reportedly stormed the ADC chairman's residence off Winners Road, Uhie, Benin City, in the early hours of Sunday.
The command's spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the police had launched a manhunt for the suspected armed robbers.
She said the incident occurred on September 6, 2026, at about 3 a.m.
According to her, the hoodlums reportedly made away with four mobile phones, ₦500,000 in cash, two Toyota Highlander vehicles and other valuables.
She said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Patrick Daaor, had visited the scene and directed a comprehensive investigation aimed at identifying and apprehending the perpetrators.
'The case has been taken over by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), while detectives have processed the scene and commenced investigation,' she said.
