Gilani pays tribute to historic struggle, patriotism of Gilgit-Baltistan

ISLAMABAD, Nov 01 (APP):Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Sunday extended heartfelt felicitations to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan on their 79th Independence Day, paying rich tribute to their historic struggle, sacrifices and unwavering commitment to Pakistan. He said that the region's liberation from Dogra rule and its decision to join Pakistan remain a proud chapter in the country's history. The Chairman Senate highlighted landmark reforms introduced by successive democratic governments, particularly the contributions of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, as well as the empowerment initiatives the PPP government undertook in 2009 under President Asif Ali Zardari. He said Gilgit-Baltistan holds immense strategic, cultural and economic importance for Pakistan. Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasized that improved infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism and employment opportunities are essential for the region's sustainable development. He reaffirmed that Gilgit-Baltistan's progress and prosperity are integral to Pakistan's national development and expressed confidence that its people will continue to contribute to a stronger, united, and prosperous Pakistan.
