Zendaya and Tom Holland's real life romance has become the subject of a playful cinema joke, with signs promoting their latest films drawing attention online. Pictures circulating on social media show cinemas using Zendaya's relationship with Holland as a cheeky addition to their promotional messaging.
One of the signs shared online is from Picturehouse Central in London and promotes The Odyssey in 70mm. Alongside the film information, the cinema's display highlights Zendaya's involvement before adding a humorous reference to Holland by describing him as Zendaya's husband.
The joke plays on the fact that Zendaya and Holland are both prominent Hollywood stars while also being one of the entertainment industry's most closely watched couples. Zendaya appears in The Odyssey, while Holland is among the stars of Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic. The two actors have also continued their Marvel connection through Spider-Man: Brand New Day, in which Zendaya returns as MJ opposite Holland's Peter Parker.
The cinema gag arrives as the couple's Marvel association is receiving fresh attention following the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Marvel confirms that Holland leads the film as Peter Parker, with Zendaya also part of the cast. The film was released in cinemas on July 31, 2026.
Zendaya and Holland's relationship has been a major point of public interest since they began working together on the Spider-Man franchise. They first appeared together in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, followed by Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019 and Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021.
Their relationship moved from on screen speculation to an established real life romance, with the pair now frequently appearing together at major events. They attended the Los Angeles premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day together on July 27, where they embraced their status as both co stars and a couple. ABC News reported that Holland and Zendaya attended the premiere together, with Holland wearing a red suit and Zendaya choosing a spider inspired look.
The new cinema signage appears to lean into that public familiarity rather than making a serious statement about the couple. The wording is designed to catch the attention of audiences who already know that Holland and Zendaya are partners in real life as well as stars of the Marvel franchise.
Another image referenced in the social media discussion shows Brixton's Ritzy cinema using a similarly playful approach when promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The wording reportedly invited audiences to see the film while describing it as starring Zendaya and adding a reference to her husband.
The timing makes the joke particularly fitting. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the latest instalment in Holland's Spider Man series and brings Zendaya back as MJ. Marvel's official synopsis says the story follows Peter Parker after he has voluntarily erased himself from the memories of the people he loves, leaving him to operate alone in New York City.
The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and featuring Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon and Jon Bernthal, has already made its mark at the box office, setting new records and becoming a major theatrical hit since its July 31, 2026 release.
