JMK Research releases August 2026 monthly renewable energy sector update

India's cumulative RE capacity stood at 291 GW on July 31st 2026, solar at 56% of the mix and wind at 20%. July additions were 2,443 MW of solar and 694 MW of wind, against 5,106 MW and 636 MW in June. Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh took 1,456.09 MW of the 1,736.92 MW of utility-scale solar, and Uttar Pradesh led rooftop on 135.5 MW. RE generation was 35,252.41 BWhs in August, up 1.25% MoM, with VRE curtailment down 42.75% to 667.76 MUs. SECI awarded 1,500 MW/6,000 MWh at a low of INR 5.99/kWh and 1,000 MW RTC at INR 5.25/kWh.
