Three to try: Super non-alcoholic spritzes to tickle your taste buds

Lucky for drinkers curtailing their alcohol, there's an evolving category of grown-up beverages that are alcohol-free without compromising flavour or complexity. Brewers can now deliver a non-alcoholic experience that doesn't disappoint. New ones pop up regularly. Whiplash's new No Dose Pils (€2.90, whiplashbeer.com) is a crisp no-alcohol pilsner. O'Hara's new Hazy no-alcohol IPA (available on draught) is fully fermented with a specialised yeast for a hazy beer that is light and pithy but with substance. Wine seriously lags behind, but some winemakers are thinking outside the dealcoholisation box. Vino Gross in Slovenia gently presses hand-picked organic grapes and bottles them unfermented, as its Flein Zweigelt Juice 0pc (lecaveau.ie, €18.95) with its vibrant sour cherry and pomegranate notes. Think chilled sparkling mulled wine, perhaps, with a freshness and intrigue that keeps you coming back for more. EdeM Brunette is darker in colour and complex flavours, appealing to vermouth lovers with distinctive wormwood, gentian and juniper vibes, and a bittersweet profile of spiced caramel meets grapefruit pith.
