Police to Investigate the Crashed Sky Ranger Fixed-wing Aerosport Aircraft in Blora Indonesian National Police

A Sky Ranger fixed-wing aerosport aircraft crashed and caught fire in a rice field in Sarimulyo Village, Ngawen District, Blora Regency, Central Java, on Sunday (September 6, 2026) at around 12:10 a.m. The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Blora Sub-regional Police, Police Senior Inspector Zaenul Arifin, stated that the aircraft experienced engine trouble while flying from Pangandaran, West Java, to Malang, East Java. "The aircraft experienced trouble in flight, causing it to make an emergency landing in a rice field," he said in Blora on Sunday (9/6/2026). Before continuing its journey to Malang, the aircraft landed at Adisutjipto Airport in Yogyakarta for refueling. However, after returning to the air, the aircraft experienced engine trouble while flying over Blora Regency. The pilot then attempted an emergency landing in a rice field. The attempt was unsuccessful. The aircraft crashed and caught fire after making the emergency landing. Fortunately, the two crew members, pilot Dhoni Vasmin A (39) and co-pilot Ignatius Andreas (31), managed to escape before the plane caught fire. Both survived with minor injuries and received treatment at the Ngawen Community Health Center. Meanwhile, the plane was severely damaged by the impact and fire. The fuselage was mangled and charred, leaving only debris at the scene. The police, along with several related agencies, immediately secured the area around the accident site. An investigation was also conducted to determine the exact cause of the crash. Inafis officers from the Blora Sub-regional Police also examined the scene and set up police tape around the area where the plane crashed. Zaenul confirmed that the plane involved in the accident was an aerosport aircraft, not a military aircraft. "The flight was carried out for training and to check the condition of the fleet ahead of an air show," he said.
