Providence woman arrested after brief chase, hit-and-run

A woman from Providence has been arrested following a hit-and-run in Pawtucket that left a man in critical condition. According to Pawtucket Police, the crash occurred on Sunday at the corner of Main St. and Magill St. between a vehicle that had been reported as stolen earlier that day and a 48-year-old man on an electric unicycle. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Maryna Ohagan, reportedly fled the scene on foot. The man injured in the crash sustained life-threatening injuries, and was taken to a local hospital. Earlier, Pawtucket Police had engaged in a brief chase with the vehicle allegedly driven by Ohagan after they located it within the city and attempted to pull it over. They say they called off the pursuit after a short time in the interest of public safety. After Ohagan was identified as a suspect in the crash and theft, she was arrested by officers with the Providence Police Department. Pawtucket Police say that she confessed to her actions in both incidents to them later that day. Ohagan is facing charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, refusing to stop in a crash resulting in serious injury and larceny of over $10,000.
