Clean Punjab Is Foundation For Healthy, Prosperous Future: Maryam Nawaz

In her message on World Cleanup Day, the Chief Minister said the Suthra Punjab Project is the foundation for a new and healthier Punjab, that getting cleanliness of streets and neighborhoods done is the government's responsibility, while maintaining cleanliness is the citizens' duty. LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Sep, 2026) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her message on World Cleanup Day, said cleanliness holds the status of half of faith for every Muslim, while a clean Punjab is the foundation for a healthy and prosperous future. Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the Suthra Punjab Project is the foundation for a new and healthy Punjab and is the largest project of its kind in the world. She said that, for the first time, an organized cleanliness programme covering 25,000 villages, along with cities, had been launched. The cleanliness situation on Punjab's roads, streets and neighborhoods is also being monitored through Safe City cameras. The Chief Minister said cleaning streets and neighborhoods was the government's responsibility, but maintaining cleanliness was the citizens' duty. Sustainable and environment-friendly measures are being implemented under the Suthra Punjab Programme. Maryam Nawaz Sharif said a clean environment guarantees protection from diseases and a better quality of life. Making Punjab clean and green and ensuring the people of Punjab remain healthy is the government's top priority, she added. She said keeping the planet clean was essential for protecting and preserving the environment, adding that maintaining cleanliness in our surroundings was a collective social responsibility. According to the Chief Minister, arrangements are being made for waste recycling, waste management and the cleaning of public places. Maryam Nawaz Sharif said a clean Pakistan was the foundation of a healthy and developed Pakistan. She appealed to the public to adopt proper methods for disposing of garbage, avoid using plastic and play their full role in keeping their homes, streets and neighborhoods clean.
