NIMAS Achieves Historic Climb of 20 Unconquered Peaks in Ladakh

Dirang, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : The National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) in Dirang has made history by successfully climbing 20 previously unconquered peaks in Ladakh, each over 6,000 meters high. The remarkable achievement was completed in just 23 days, setting a new record for the institute. The Ministry of Defence celebrated this milestone on its official X account, stating, 'NIMAS, located in Dirang, has made history by successfully summiting 20 peaks in Ladakh that had never been climbed before. They completed this unprecedented ascent in a record time of 23 days.' This accomplishment showcases India's growing capabilities in mountaineering, exploration, leadership in expeditions, and adventure sports. It also serves to inspire the youth of the nation to face challenges, explore India's diverse terrains, and contribute to nation-building. NIMAS, situated in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, operates under the Ministry of Defence. It is the only institution in the country providing training and expedition activities related to adventure sports across land, air, and water.
