Original Article: Banglamung Officials Raid Jomtien Soi 2 Once Again PATTAYA: On September 7th, 2026, Banglamung District administrative officers and police raided Soi 2 Jomtien after complaints of street-level drug sales and gatherings to use narcotics, only the latest in many raids on the Soi in the past year. The operation was ordered by Chonburi Governor Narit Niramaiwong and Banglamung District Chief Anusak Phiriyamon under the government's anti-drug policy. Deputy District Chief for Security Khamphrai Laosan led Volunteer Defense Corps members, district officials from the Rapid Mobile Special Operations Unit, and officers from Pattaya City Police Station. After receiving reports that drugs were being sold in the Soi and that people were gathering to use them, officers sent an informant to gather information. The informant identified a man later named as Som Pho-ngam, 51, as a seller. In a sting, the informant rode a motorcycle into the Soi and negotiated to buy crystal methamphetamine, known locally as ice, for 300 baht. After Som handed over the drugs and took the money, officers who had been watching moved in and arrested him. Officers then searched his rented room to follow up. Inside they found a group of men and women together and evidence they had been using drugs. A search turned up drug paraphernalia and additional narcotics. Suchat was found with about 0.30 grams of ice. Siriporn was found with two methamphetamine pills and about 0.10 grams of ice. All those involved were detained along with the seized drugs and equipment. They were taken to Pattaya City Police Station for investigation and legal proceedings. Officials said the raid is part of ongoing efforts by Banglamung administrators and police to act on community complaints, investigate, and expand operations to curb the spread of drugs in the area.
