Should the concept of neutrality be more strictly enshrined in our Constitution? That is what the neutrality initiative demands. It will be put to the vote on 27 September and was launched by the association Pro Suisse (formerly ASIN), with the backing of the SVP and part of the radical left. For the initiative's proponents, it is necessary to rein in a Federal Council which, they say, interprets neutrality — Switzerland's very DNA — too broadly, notably by adopting the European Union's sanctions against Russia.
