Dancing With The Stars fans are furious that professional dancer Jenna Johnson has been partnered with Glee and Grey's Anatomy star Harry Shum Jr. for season 35 because her fellow pro, Britt Stewart, once revealed that he was her "dream partner." Britt's Dancing With The Stars season 35 partner is Taylor Hanson, who, unlike Harry, has no professional dance training. Although Taylor has an enormous fan base as the singer for the band, Hanson, Harry has extensive professional dance experience, although not in ballroom dancing. Britt Stewart's Dancing With The Stars Season 35 Dream Partner Was Harry Shum Jr. In a December 2025 interview on The Joe Vulpis Podcast, shared via YouTube, when asked who her Dancing With The Stars "dream partner" was for season 35, Britt answered that she'd been "thinking about it a lot," and she'd love to dance with Harry, Simu Liu, Noah Beck, or someone with an extremely large social media following. In regard to Harry, she said, "I don't know if he would do it, but Harry Shum. He actually used to be a dancer. And now he's just an actor. And I think he would be incredible." Dancing With The Stars Fans Are Outraged That Jenna Was Paired With Harry Instead Of Britt Some Dancing With The Stars fans were furious when they heard that Jenna was partnered with Harry instead of Britt. In the comments section of Jenna's TikTok post announcing their pairing, many fans gushed about how they couldn't wait to see them dance together because they were a match made in heaven. However, Britt's fans flooded the comments section with complaints. Several Dancing With The Stars fans felt that Jenna and her husband, Val Chmerkovskiy, who's paired with Jenna Dewan, another celebrity with professional dance training, are favored on the show, which pushes out other pros like Britt. Others thought that it was outrageous that Britt had expressed that she wanted to dance with Harry, but he was partnered with Jenna instead. One viewer wrote, "Everyone knows that was Britt's ideal partner. Sad." Another Britt supporter stated, "Ya [not going to lie] if it was me I'd have to quit my job cause [what do you mean] yall don't give me the person I've said MULTIPLE times is my dream partner and yall had him on the same season as me." One fan even posted a call to action, writing, "Can we start a petition for a partner switch and have Harry with Britt." However, many fans expressed support for Jenna, explaining that the pros don't get to choose their partners, and it wasn't her fault that she was paired with Harry and Britt was partnered with Taylor, who has no dance experience, but a huge fan base, despite wanting to dance with Harry. Others pointed out that, although Jenna's won Dancing With The Stars twice, in season 26 with Adam Rippon and season 33 with Joey Graziadei, last season, she was eliminated first with her partner, Corey Feldman, along with Britt and her partner, Baron Davis, in a double elimination. Other fans countered that with the fact that Britt has never won Dancing With The Stars, and has consistently been eliminated early in the competition due to her partners being inexperienced dancers, older, controversial, or not having large fan bases. The farthest she's ever made it in the competition was in season 31, when she placed 5th with her eventual husband, Daniel Durant. Britt's other partners were Johnny Weir (season 29, placed 6th); Martin Kove (season 30, placed 15th), Adrian Peterson (season 32, placed 11th); and Eric Roberts (season 33, placed 10th). How Did Britt React To Jenna Being Partnered With Harry? In the comments section of one of Jenna's Instagram posts, in which Jenna and Harry recreated a scene from Glee, Britt expressed her excitement. In the post, captioned, "Mike Chang has entered the chat," referencing Harry's Glee character, Jenna lip syncs to Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester saying, "You know, there's only one person in this world who can tell you what you are." Harry then lip syncs, "Me," to which Jenna replies, "No, me. Sue Sylvester." Britt wrote, "Jenna!!! YES," with two high five emojis and a red heart. Britt's comment seems to indicate that she has no hard feelings towards Jenna. While it's frustrating for Britt's fans to see her Dancing With The Stars season 35 dream partner get paired with Jenna, it's certainly not Jenna's fault, and they shouldn't take it out on her. However, Britt is long overdue to have a partner with whom she can win. She's been dancing on the show since 2016, when she joined the season 22 troupe, and she was promoted to pro in 2020 in season 29. Britt is a Dancing With The Stars veteran, and, hopefully, she and Taylor will win the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy in season 35. Dancing With The Stars season 35 premieres with a two-night event on Tuesday, September 15 and Wednesday, September 16 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
