Missouri State Highway Patrol releases preliminary numbers from Labor Day Counting Period

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo - The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released its preliminary statistics from its Labor Day counting Period. Over the holiday weekend eight people died and 82 were injured in 213 traffic crashes. Crashes were lower compared to 2025 when there were 252. Injuries were also lower with 123 occurring last year. However, fatalities were double from the previous year. The patrol also worked nine boating crashes resulting in one injury over the weekend. This year's Labor Day Counting Period ran from 6 pm on Friday to 11:59 pm yesterday.
