The DCU's upcoming mockumentary The People v. Gorilla Grodd may have some familiar Superman connections. Gorilla Grodd is primarily known as a Flash villain. However, a new rumor claims that the series will feature a few characters from Superman's corner of the DC Universe. According to the rumor, Heather Kelley and the Newsboy Legion will appear in the series. Heather Kelley was a newer addition to Superman's mythos, first appearing in the New 52 continuity. She debuted in Superman Vol. 3 #2, dated December 2011. The Newsboy Legion, however, has been around since the Golden Age of comics. They first appeared in Star-Spangled Comics #7, dated April 1942. Since then, multiple versions of the team have appeared across different DC continuities. The rumored characters have deep roots in DC Comics history Heather Kelley has had a relatively minor role in DC Comics since her introduction in 2011. She works as a reporter for the Daily Planet and has been portrayed as part of Clark Kent's professional circle. Lois Lane even tries to set the duo up. The Newsboy Legion, meanwhile, has a storied history in DC, almost as old as the Big Blue Boy Scout's. The original Newsboy Legion debuted alongside Guardian in 1942 and became recurring characters in his stories. When the original Guardian, Jim Harper, passed away, the Newsboy Legion would appear in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen as leaders of Project Cadmus. This is the same organization that would yield the character of Kon El, otherwise known as Superboy. Given that Jimmy Olsen is going to be part of the story, and Gorilla Grodd's murder of his father is billed as "one of Metropolis' most famous murder trials" in the show's logline, it is likely going to be the case that Kelley and The Newsboy Legion will be appearing as journalists who covered the event when it was in the public zeitgeist in The People v. Gorilla Grodd. Originally reported by Anuraag Chatterjee on SuperHeroHype.com. The post DCU Rumor Reveals Two Surprise Superman Additions for The People v. Gorilla Grodd appeared first on Mandatory.
