Martyred police laid to rest with state honours

LANDIKOTAL Two security personnel were killed in the overnight terrorists attack on Takhta Baig checkpost on Sunday night,official sources said on Monday. They said that terrorists from three sides attacked the joint Frontier Corps(FC) and police Takhta Baig checkpost in Jamrurd around 9pm They said as they opened firing the security forces retaliated the attack and bravely repulsed the attack. After around an exchange of cross firing the terrorists fled from the scene. During the exchange of firing, police official Mashal Khan Shalmani and FC soldier Nazeer critically injured. They were rushed to hospitals where they succumbed to their injuries. After the attack, a heavy contingent of forces rushed to the Takhta Baig checkpost and cordoned off the area. They launched aearch and strike operation. Later, the funeral prayer of police constable Mashal Khan Shalmani was offered at Police Lines Khyber with full state honors. CCPO Peshawar Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad, DPO Khyber Waqar Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner Khyber Shahid Ali, Bara Rifles Commandant Amir Touseef, all SPs, DSP Headquarters, other police officers and personnel and the family members of the deceased attended the funeral. Police contingent presented a guard of honor to the martyr. Floral wreaths were laid on his coffin in tribute to his sacrifice, while special prayers were offered for the departed soul and his high rank in the hereafter. Speaking on the occasion, CCPO Peshawar Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad said Mashal Khan Shalmani was dutiful, courteous brave member of the Khyber police who displayed exceptional courage while confronting the terrorists during the attack. He said Mashal Khan Shalmani and Nazeer Khan of FC sacrificed their lives while thwarting the attack. He added that the sacrifices of the martyrs would always be remembered and the entire police force was proud of its brave men who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
