The Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party Deputy Governorship Candidate, 'Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, has assured members of opposition parties in the state that they would not be abandoned if the PDP wins the 2027 governorship election.
Sowunmi-Kolapo gave the assurance at the PDP Ijemo Zone meeting in Ward 5, Abeokuta South, where she also urged residents to vote massively for the party's candidates in the National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections.
She expressed confidence in the party's chances at the polls, promising that a PDP-led government would provide inclusive governance and protect the interests of residents irrespective of their political affiliations.
Addressing party members, leaders and supporters at the meeting, Sowunmi-Kolapo urged opposition members not to be apprehensive about a possible PDP victory.
She said, 'We want to assure our brothers and sisters in the opposition, who know the truth but are running helter-skelter to protect their 'soup pots', that they will still be able to eat after we have thrashed them at the polls.
'We will not allow politics to break the bond between the true sons and daughters of Ogun State. We know that when the chips are down, the strangers they are supporting now because of their pockets will abandon them, but we will never do so. So, they will come round.'
The deputy governorship candidate, who is the Iya Sunnah of Egbaland and Ameerah of Ogun State, said her acceptance across Egbaland and the state predated her involvement in partisan politics.
