Lionel Richie Hospitalised in ICU After St. Louis Concert

Singer Lionel Richie was hospitalised in intensive care in St. Louis after performing Saturday night, with doctors evaluating him for possible mild dehydration, according to TMZ. The 77-year-old entered a local hospital following his August 29 performance at The Muny in Forest Park. Sources told TMZ the admission was precautionary and that Richie hoped to be discharged Tuesday. Witnesses at the concert said Richie appeared to struggle near the end of the performance. During his final song, 'All Night Long,' he asked his team for a chair and completed the number while seated. The concert was the opening stop of Richie's current 'Sing a Song All Night Long' tour with Earth, Wind & Fire. Richie was taken to hospital after becoming unwell while performing in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he told the audience he felt dizzy and strange before ending the show early. Paramedics treated him backstage before taking him to hospital by ambulance. His team later attributed that episode to dehydration.
