2027 Rivian R2 Performance for Sale With 30 Miles

Deliveries of the Rivian R2 finally started this year, but only some customers who can stretch their budget to the Performance variant have received their vehicles so far. For many, it's going to be a long wait, as some customers who placed a reservation two years ago are still waiting. If you'd rather skip the queue entirely, a 2027 Rivian R2 Performance has come up for sale in Illinois. With a few days to go before bidding ends, this R2 could easily end up selling for way more than the sticker price. The 2027 Rivian R2 is a brand-new vehicle. Deliveries of the Performance trim started earlier this year, but the more affordable Premium and Standard trims arrive in late 2026 and spring 2027, respectively. The R2 Performance starts at $57,990, excluding a destination fee of $1,495. It's currently available with the Launch Package at no extra charge, which adds Rivian's Autonomy+ suite, a Launch key fob, the Tow Package, and access to special Launch Green paint. The model currently listed for sale on Cars & Bids is finished in Half Moon Gray (a $1,500 option) instead, but it has all the other mentioned extras. Between the paint and a compact spare tire ($755), the customer paid $61,740 in total. Being the top trim level and the Launch edition, this is the most valuable R2 and will be for the foreseeable future. That's why several R2 flippers have already listed these SUVs for nearly $20,000 above the sticker price. The Half Moon Gray model seen here has a high bid of $60,000, a number that's expected to increase before bidding ends. There are some scuff marks on the lower door and sill on the driver's side, but these appear to be nothing more than light dirt from shoes that should be easily wiped off. The interior has a Black Crater Signature color scheme, so it's quite a moody finish overall. The only pops of color are from the yellow brake calipers and yellow Rivian logs on the rubber floor mats. The 88-kWh battery allows for a range of up to 330 miles on a full charge, a figure yet to be tested in this ultra-low-mileage example. The vehicle has not yet had its first service, as it's not due for one anytime soon. The seller purchased the vehicle in August 2026 and quickly had to answer a barrage of questions about why the SUV was being sold so quickly. 'It took 28 months to get this car, so we got another EV about a year ago,' stated the Illinois resident. 'I had and have no problem saying that I am now flipping the car. And, I have also had no problem sharing that if it does not sell, I have no problem keeping the car.' Once the Launch Package falls away, an equivalent R2 Performance with all the features of this package will likely cost a lot more. Buying this virtually new R2 now would also allow you to avoid potentially lengthy waiting lists as Rivian ramps up production of its first mainstream EV. Our first impressions of the R2 were strong, but if you live in a warm area, beware of the heat buildup in the cabin because of that huge glass roof. On the other hand, if you aren't in a hurry to upgrade, engaging in a bidding war for this R2 could see you paying significantly more than simply ordering a new one from the automaker. It's still an electric SUV that's likely to depreciate quickly, so beyond $65,000, it starts to look needlessly expensive.
