Arsenal ‘decide' to sell Viktor Gyokeres only if one target is met

Kai Havertz has started the season ahead of him and scored in the 2-1 win over Chelsea. Gyokeres, signed from Sporting for £64million in 2025, has had a mixed first year and only a late cameo so far this term. A summer swap with Atletico Madrid for Julian Alvarez did not happen. Another report has floated Gyokeres going to Al-Hilal in exchange for Ivan Toney. TEAMtalk's line is that any sale now needs an exceptional incoming who can match the Swede's output and still complement Havertz rather than copy him. Eli Junior Kroupi is the name attached to that search. The Bournemouth forward had a breakout last season, including the goal against Manchester City that helped Arsenal to the title, and is due back around November after a metatarsal injury. Football Insider say the Cherries want about £80million and have no plans to sell in January. 'Bournemouth have no plans to let Eli Junior Kroupi leave in January as Arsenal plot a new move for his services, sources have told Football Insider.' TEAMtalk add: 'Any deal for Gyokeres would therefore require an exceptional incoming who can both replace the Swede's output and simultaneously complement, rather than replace, Havertz's unique role. A younger option coming in to learn Arteta's demands is something that could happen, but they would need to be patient. With the window now shut, the Gunners appear prepared to persist with their current options unless an unforeseen opportunity of the highest possible quality appears.' That leaves the winter window looking tight. Alvarez still prefers Barcelona. Kroupi's club do not want to sell mid-season. Toney-for-Gyokeres is speculation. Piers Morgan has separately claimed Gyokeres feels disrespected after being benched to force a move. The condition is the story. Arsenal will not dump the £64million striker into a vacuum. They will only move him if someone better, or at least someone Arteta rates as top level, is coming the other way. Until that player exists, Havertz stays first and Gyokeres stays waiting.
